Project
- 1,800 residential units – density up to 70 units per acre;
- 70,000 square feet of ground floor retail uses;
- 2 million square feet of campus office;
- New 1500 space BART Garage, expandable to 2000 spaces;
- New Bart Garage frees up 7 acres of BART surface parking for residential and retail;
- 90 acres, owned by Alameda County (65 acres) and BART (15 acres).
Status
- 4 development projects, with 977 units, are approved, completed or under construction;
- 5th development, with 400 units, is in entitlements;
- 6th and 7th residential site RFP underway in spring 2007;
- BART Garage construction underway, to be completed early 2008
Fund Sources
- Local (CMA & MTC) New BART Garage and Plaza;
- Land sales (from County) New BART Garage and infrastructure;
- City Traffic Impact Fees (over time) New BART Garage.
Next Steps
- Complete construction of the BART Garage and backfill existing BART surface parking with multifamily.
- Complete Residential developments and attract office/commercial uses to the area
